Grilled cheese sandwiches are no stranger to the lunch, and as a result of being stuffed into lunch boxes day-after-day, they've lost their sizzle. But there are plenty of ways to set taste buds to alert, whether it's spicy cheese or alternative grain bread. Our suggestion is incorporating steak fajita into your next grilled cheese - give it a try!
2 slices multigrain bread
2 slices cheddar cheese
3 slices natural roast beef or 2 oz grilled and sliced flank steak
1 oz red onion
1 oz red pepper
1/2 tsp Mexican chili spice
½ tbsp butter
½ tbsp olive oil
In a frying pan add oil and sauté onions and peppers. Add Mexican chili spice and seasoning and let cool.
Place the base of bread on the cutting board and add 1 slice of cheese.
Add roast beef or flank then add onions and peppers. Add cheese and cover with the remaining slice.
Butter both sides of the bread and add to pan on low heat. Press sandwich down on both sides till cheese is melted and bread is golden. Let cool then wrap for lunch the next day.
Substitute leftovers for steak and peppers like roast chicken and mushroom grilled cheese
