A tasty turkey burger with avocado mayo

filler When it comes to great a burger it doesn't always have to be a tried and true classic Mix things up with turkey meat, it has a great lean taste and makes for an exciting change to your backyard barbecue. Try it with our avocado mayo, the perfect pair for those backyard summer nights.

 

Ingredients

Serves 4-6 

500 grams     ground turkey - dark meat

¼ pc              onion - finely chopped, sautéed then cooled

1/2 clove       garlic - minced

1                    egg whole

¼   cup          bread crumbs

1 tsp              oregano

2 tbsp            BBQ sauce

1 tsp              dijon mustard

1 tsp              cajun poultry seasoning

Sea Salt and Pepper to taste

 

Steps:
Mix all ingredients using a kitchen aid mixer with paddle attachment or by hand. Form into 4 oz balls, between some parchment paper, flatten to about 1/4 inch (use the bottom of a pot or frying pan)

Turn on grill to high heat and season with oil

Grill on high to desired doneness, thinner patties cook faster and lose less moisture, or use a griddle plate for maximum flavour

 

Avacado Mayo:

1 cup             mayonnaise

1 tbsp            cilantro fresh washed and chopped

1 tbsp            lime juice and zest

1 ripe             avocado - seeded and scooped out of shell

1-2 dashes    green Tobasco

2 cloves         roasted garlic

 

Steps:
Mix all ingredients into a blender and puree. Note this can be made ahead of time and can last in the fridge covered for up to 2-3 days. Serve mayo over burger and top with ingredients such as tomatoes, red onions, pickles, bacon, and cheese
