Italians love their wine. Take it from Canada’s oldest & largest fine wine importer, Halpern Enterprises, founded some 60 years ago on Spadina Avenue.
Importing from more than 130 wineries, Halpern’s nose for the finest has inspired them to seek out the best wines the world has to offer. Their wine portfolio is expertly curated and caters to all tastes: from the connoisseur to the couple that simply enjoys a glass of wine with dinner.
One of Halpern’s favourite brands is from the world’s oldest continuously run winery, Antinori. This Italian winery has been owned by the Antinori family for 26 generations & can trace its history back to 1385.
There’s really no winery more respected than Antinori. They are well known for innovation. Front-and-centre is the development of their ‘Super Tuscan Blend’ Tignanello back in the 1970s. From aging in barriques, (relatively small oak barrels originating from Bordeaux) to the unconventional choice of not using white grapes, to blending with non-traditional varieties like Cabernet—Tignanello is a wine of many firsts, a uniquely wonderful bottle.
Pair Antinori’s Tignanello with red meat, cheese, piquant and rich dishes, to best appreciate its structure & complex spicy, balsamic sensations.
